October 10, 2022

Carey Olsen Bermuda will be competing in the Triathlon Union’s 2022 World Triathlon Series Championships in Bermuda to raise funds for Family Centre Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “The leading offshore law firm is also proud to be one of the sponsors and an Official Partner of the event as it returns for the first time since the pandemic.

“The 2022 competition represents the 11th series of the World Triathlon Championships, with Bermuda hosting the semi-finals on Sunday 6 November before the finals are held in Abu Dhabi at the end of November.”

Carey Olsen Bermuda partner Gavin Woods said: “Our team are really looking forward to taking part so that we can support the wonderful local charity, Family Centre Bermuda, who help families in crisis and their many initiatives including their work with Beyond Rugby that inspires young people to reach their full potential. We are very proud to also be sponsors of the event here which has historically been a huge success for the island. It draws in hundreds of professional and amateur athletes and spectators, thereby putting Bermuda on the global sporting stage.”

The spokesperson said, “Family Centre Bermuda was founded to provide critical intervention services to children suffering from emotional, social, behavioural and trauma-based challenges. Through their specialised programmes and prevention initiatives, the charity provides families with the skills they need to be successful and to sustain that success for future generations. Beyond Rugby Bermuda combines the coaching expertise of the Bermuda Rugby Football Union [BRFU] with the therapeutic skill of the Family Centre programmes to help young people fulfil their potential.

“A Carey Olsen Bermuda team of 14 participants, led by Bermuda managing partner, Michael Hanson, will compete in the range of sprinting, cycling and swimming events on the day as well as volunteering and supporting the event through the ‘Tri-Commitment Challenge’, taking on various responsibilities such as athlete welcome, registration, and course marshalling.

“Carey Olsen Bermuda is a supporter of many community-based sports and activities. The firm’s most recent support includes contributions to WindReach, a charity that aims to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges by providing a range of programmes and activities, and the selection of Support Public Schools – Bermuda [SPS] as one of its official office charities. SPS equips Bermuda’s schools with supplies and resources such as sports equipment to increase the quality of school experiences for students.”
