Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis Holding Two Events

The public is invited to attend two events with the Rev. Jacqui Lewis, including ‘Racial Justice and Ubuntu’ on October 22 and a community church service on October 23.

A spokesperson said, “The Rev. Jacqui Lewis, Ph.D. uses her gifts as author, activist, preacher, public theologian toward creating an antiracist, just, fully welcoming society in which everyone has enough and where everyone is equal.

“Believing faith communities can lead the way to racial reconciliation, Dr. Lewis co-founded The Middle Project and The Revolutionary Love Conference with her spouse, The Rev. John Janka, which train leaders to create a more just society. Dr. Lewis is the Senior Minister for Public Theology and Transformation at Middle Collegiate Church in New York City.

Saturday, October 22nd

• “Racial Justice and Ubuntu”
• CURB & Wesley Methodist
• 9:00-11am at the Bermuda National Gallery

“Dr. Lewis will talk about her passion for racial justice and equality in our world. She will share the Zulu concept of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is often translated as ‘I am here because we are’ or ‘I am because you are.’

“A continental breakfast will be available from 9:00am until Dr. Lewis speaks at 10am [donations will be appreciated]. A book signing will take place at 9:20am. There is a limit of 100 places, so please register by email at bermuda22oct@gmail.com.

Sunday, October 23rd

“Join us at Wesley for a vibrant service featuring the music of Joy. T. Barnum and Rajai Denbrook. Dr. Lewis will bring the message ‘we are awesome by design’ as we share together in God’s love. There is no need to register, and all are welcome. There will be a book signing after the service.

Dr. Lewis created two national television programs: Just Faith on MSNBC.com, and Chapter and Verse on PBS.
