Duffy: ‘Really Cool We Have Three Bermudians’
What is “really cool” about the upcoming WTS Bermuda Triathlon is that we have “three Bermudians racing at the World Triathlon level” which is “pretty incredible for a tiny island,” Dame Flora Duffy said in a recent interview.
Speaking during a recent interview about the upcoming WTS Bermuda event, she said, “What’s really cool is we have two other Bermudians racing – Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith. So I think that’s pretty special that we have three Bermudians racing at the World Triathlon level. It’s pretty incredible for a tiny island.”
Dame Flora also mentioned the island’s other top triathlete, noting that Tyler Butterfield has “been doing a lot of training with me in Boulder. He helped me immensely in my Commonwealth Games preparation this year.”
“It’s really cool to see how the sport’s developing, and more and more people getting involved in the sport in Bermuda,” she added.
Bermuda’s three elite triathletes will compete against some of the best triathletes from around the world, with triathletes from nations including France, USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Australia, Columbia, Austria, Spain, Brazil, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany all listed to compete in the Bermuda event.
