Aries Sports Members Win Medals In NJ
Led by Sensei Cyril Whitter III, members of the Jiujitsu Club of Bermuda out of the Aries Sports Center competed in the Grappling Industries Event in Atlantic City in New Jersey, making a strong showing to win multiple medals.
The Bermuda group competed in Brazilian jiujitsu gi and no gi categories across youth, juvenile and adult categories.
Ryah Symonds finished 2nd competing in the 16-17 Years Female 135lbs gi kids white division. Symonds also finished 2nd in the 16-17 years female 135lbs no gi kids beginner white division.
Jonathan Trott entered the 10-11 years male -115lbs no gi kids intermediate grey division, Trott would claim the gold by defeating all three of his opponents. In the 10-11 years male -115lbs gi kids grey division, Trott would finish second.
Whitter III competed in the masters 30+ male -155lbs gi adult blue division, Whitter III finished second. In the masters 30+ male -155lbs no gi adult blue fivision, Whitter III finished 2nd yet again.
Jessica Darrell would claim the title while competing in the female adult -125lbs gi adult white division. Darrell was back in action in the female adult -125lbs no gi adult white division again claiming the gold medal.
Symonds was back in action this time in the female adult -135lbs gi adult white division, Symonds would claim another silver medal. In the female adult -135lbs no gi adult white division, Symonds finished 2nd.
These results meant that Aries Sports Center was ranked the 6th overall academy in the adult category out of 83 academies competing at the event.
