Bermuda Win Medals At Wushu Nationals
The Bermuda Sanshou Association has returned from the Phoenix Wushu Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona, with an impressive haul of medals.
In taolu, Errin Cann claimed two golds after winning the female group B Changquan [long fist] and group B Jianshu [straight sword].
Geraldine Sidders finished runner-up in the female group B Changquan [long fist].
Meanwhile, Kaelin Cox won the Southern Style form advanced, and the Animal Styles form advanced. He also came third in the IWUF Men’s Nanquan [southern fist].
In Sanda, Krista Dyer, a team captain, won gold after defeating Josey Range by technical knockout; Jacob Goodwin took silver after losing 2-1 to Gael Portillo; Sidders seized gold after defeating Pepper Adams 2-0; and Muryah Swan secured gold after beating Shea Scarborough 2-0.
Dyer now turn her attention to the Sanda World Cup in Jiangyin, China, from April 5 to 10.
Garon Wilkinson, the BSA president, hailed his athletes for their solid performances and said they more than met his expectations for the competition.
Travelling with the team were coaches Wilkinson, Jecoa Burrows, Che Beane and Quennel Robinson.
Nolette Webb and Shaun Richards served as Sanda judges.
