Kimberly Charryse Bean & Nea Talbot Appointed

Kimberly Charryse Bean has been appointed as the Director in the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, and Nea Talbot has been appointed as the Director in the Department of Communications.

A Government spokesperson said, “Today, the Government advised of the appointments of two Director posts.

“Ms. Kimberly Charryse Bean has been appointed as the Director in the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation within the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport. And Ms. Nea Talbot has been appointed to the post of Director in the Department of Communications, within the Cabinet Office.

“As the Director of Youth, Sport and Recreation, Ms. Bean will work under the general policy direction of the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport.

“Ms. Bean has over 15 years’ experience in the management field. She has worked as a Senior Officer in the Department of Youth Sport and Recreation and has served as the Acting Director numerous times over the years.

“In her role, Ms. Bean has worked with and assisted Permanent Secretaries and Ministers, to help shape and implement policies on a myriad of programmes. As a Senior Recreation Development Officer, Ms. Bean was responsible for the financial planning for the Recreation Section, and the operation of the Government Camping Facilities and Summer Day Camp Programmes.

“Ms. Bean is a participant in the Bermuda Government’s Leadership Development Programme. Prior to joining the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation, Ms. Bean was an educator at the primary school level with the Department of Education. Ms. Bean attended Berkeley Institute, has a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Organization Management.

“Ms. Bean was also a long time Executive Member of the Bermuda Football Association [BFA], and currently serves as the Chairwoman of Women’s Football. Ms. Bean’s appointment became effective November 14, 2022.

“Working under the general policy direction of the Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office, Ms. Talbot will be responsible for the management and administration of the Department of Communications. She will also work to ensure that the Department continues to support, highlight, and promote Government’s key policies, programmes, and initiatives to the public.

“With 20 years’ experience in communications, Ms. Talbot has risen through the ranks of the Department, serving as a Communications Officer, a Senior Communications Officer, and as the Assistant Director, Communications – a post she has held since 2017.

“Since 2021, Ms. Talbot has served as the Acting Director of Communications, providing steady guidance and leadership to the team.

“In her role, Ms. Talbot has worked to implement efficiency policies for the Department; developed communications strategies for Ministries; provided crisis communication guidance; ensured the Government’s digital and social media strategy had impact; and most recently, worked closely with the public service leadership to support the communications during the coronavirus pandemic.

“During her tenure, Ms. Talbot has also worked to establish collaborative partnerships with local private sector organisations to aid in furthering the Government’s messaging and awareness.

“Prior to joining Government, Ms. Talbot was a journalist with The Royal Gazette newspaper, covering politics, the judiciary, social, community and human-interest issues.

“Ms. Talbot was educated at the Berkeley Institute, studied Mass Media Arts and Journalism at Clark Atlanta University, and has taken certified courses in business administration, business communications, media relations and international affairs.

“Ms. Talbot’s appointment became effective November 1, 2022.”
