Tennis: Daniel Phillips Advances In Costa Rica
Daniel Phillips began competing in the J60 San Jose Tennis Tournament in Costa Rica, taking part in both the singles and doubles.
Phillips took on Keaton Hance in his opening-round singles match and needed three sets to advance. The Bermudian tennis player won the first set 7 – 5, Keaton leveled the match at 1 – 1 by winning the second set 7 – 6, and Phillips then closed out the match winning the third set 6-4.
Phillips and his partner Luis Carvalho from Brazil took on American pair Meethre Barot and Hance where they advanced to the next round with a straight sets 7-5, 6-2 victory.
