Advisory: Govt Phone Service Interruptions

[Updated] Due to the mass power outage last Friday [Feb 3], “several Government offices continue to experience disruptions to their email and telephone services” and “approximately 1,300 users across multiple departments are impacted,” the Government advised today.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public is advised that due to the mass power outage last Friday [February 3], several Government offices continue to experience disruptions to their email and telephone services. In that regard, we encourage the public’s patience as BTC works to build a new SIP/Trunk line for service.

“Departments with BTC numbers [beginning with 295-xxxx, 297-xxxx, 294-xxxx] can make outbound calls but are not receiving inbound calls from the public.

“Approximately 1,300 users across multiple departments are impacted, including but not limited to: the Department of Planning, Department of Social Insurance, the Department of Immigration, Department of Workforce Development, the Department of Information and Technology Service Desk, and The Legislature Office.

“Please note that departments serviced by Link Bermuda [with numbers beginning 444-xxxx] are restored and in operation.

“The public will be updated when services have resumed.”

Update 4.10pm: A Government spokesperson said, “The public is advised that the disruptions affecting various Government Offices’ phone and email service have been resolved.

“The Government takes this opportunity to thank the engineers and technicians at BTC, and at the Government’s Department of Information and Digital Technology for their assistance in getting the services back online.

“The Government also thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.”
