BAA Looking To Develop Senior Women’s Team
BAA said they are “looking to develop their 1st Women’s Senior team to play in this summer’s BFA women’s league.”
A spokesperson said, “As part of our growth in sports at the club we are looking to establish a Senior Women’s team to accompany our Men’s senior team and youth program, giving more players the opportunity to enjoy sport and the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team and a club.”
Mike McGrath BAA President said “After meeting with the BFA women’s committee and finding out the requirements for the league I was excited to give the opportunity for more women to enjoy the game whether they be returning to the game after taking a break or trying it for the first time.
“I know there is a lot of pleasure to be had being part of a team and all working together to a goal and it will be great providing that for others. Once I knew we would be able to enter a team it was natural to speak with our coaching partner Bascome Football Company to ensure we had excellent coaching in place for a new team.”

The spokesperson said, “We will be holding an information session on Tuesday 28th February 7.30-8.30pm at the clubhouse for those interested. All skill levels and experience are welcome. So come and enjoy the journey of being the first BAA women’s team.”
Selina Bascome BFC coach said “It’s a great opportunity and natural progression to start a senior women’s team with BAA. We already work with BHS so this will give those girls an idea of what they can achieve and strive for. A lot of girls have enjoyed the game and then stopped for whatever reason I hope that they will see this as an opportunity to dust off their boots and once again enjoy the beautiful game with BAA. I look forward to welcoming everyone on Tuesday.”
