Reggie Lambe has revealed why he joined AFC Sudbury from Isthmian League North Division rivals Stowmarket Town.

The Bermuda midfielder, who made his AFC Sudbury debut in a 1-0 home defeat to Lowestoft Town last weekend, said the recent resignation of Paul Musgrove as Stowmarket manager led to him seeking a new challenge.

“With Muzzy leaving Stowmarket, I think it was just time to move on and have a different challenge,” Lambe told the Suffolk News.

“Sudbury are doing well, and they got in touch with me, and everything just came together.

“I’m happy to be here; it was an unfortunate result in my first game, but we move in, and we’ll try and go back and put ourselves in a dominant position to win the league.”

The 32-year-old said that helping AFC Sudbury, who are top of the table, achieve their goal of gaining promotion also played a big part in his decision to join the Suffolk-based club.

“We are in a great position to win the league, and if that doesn’t happen, we can still make it in the play-offs,” Lambe said.

“But I think moving forward, we are trying to build a team to go up and go up again, so that’s something I am very keen to be on board with.”

Lambe, who scored 11 goals for Stowmarket this season, will look to help AFC Sudbury return to winning ways when they face Tilbury away tomorrow.

“We have players who can do things one-v-one, who can get the ball in the box,” he added.

“It will be good going forward, and they can create stuff, and I can try and get on the end of it as opposed to the other way round. I’m also happy to chip in with some assists.”
