Montagliani Re-Elected As Concacaf President
The Concacaf Member Associations unanimously re-elected Victor Montagliani as President of the Confederation by acclamation for a further four-year term, encompassing 2023 to 2027.
A spokesperson said, “The 38th Concacaf Ordinary Congress took place today in Guatemala and was attended by delegates from all 41 Concacaf Member Associations, Concacaf Council Members, and important guests from the global football family.
“The Concacaf Member Associations unanimously re-elected Victor Montagliani as President of the Confederation by acclamation for a further four-year term, encompassing 2023 to 2027. Montagliani was the sole candidate in the process.
“When President Montagliani was first elected as Concacaf President his priority was steering the Confederation through the challenges faced under previous administrations. After successfully leading the process to deliver important governance reforms, he has prioritized unity within Concacaf and creating and implementing a football first agenda across the Confederation. This has included the expansion of the Concacaf Gold Cup, the launch of the Concacaf Nations League, and the development of revamped men’s and women’s national team calendars and an entirely new Concacaf club ecosystem.
“Montagliani has led Concacaf’s process of creating and launching its first women’s football strategy – Concacaf W – and under his leadership, Concacaf has launched several initiatives to support its federations in growing football on and off the pitch. These include the One Concacaf Program, the Executive Mentorship Program, and the Coaching Convention which will transform coach development in the region.
“President Montagliani expressed his sincere gratitude to the 41 Concacaf Member Associations for their trust in his leadership, and he committed to continuing to lead the Confederation in service and support of their efforts to grow all aspects of football in Concacaf.”
Mr. Montagliani said, “To my Concacaf Presidents: thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me to continue to lead our Confederation. Your support means everything to me. You are my Concacaf family, and there is nobody I would rather be working with as we continue our journey together.
“Working together, we have united as One Concacaf and prioritized a football first agenda in our Confederation. Football first is about ensuring we put the game at the heart of all decisions we make. Ultimately, football is not about who has the most revenue, trophies, or medals, but it is about people and our connection to each other through the beautiful game.
“I have said many times before that leadership is about service, not power. And my commitment to continue serving and supporting all of our Member Associations is unbreakable. In Concacaf our unique characteristics are our grit, our passion, and our perseverance to achieve our long-term goals. These characteristics, combined with our unity, are the “secret sauce” of Concacaf and I truly believe that world football could do with more of Concacaf.”
“In delivering our ongoing mission to develop football in our wonderful region, we will continue to be authentic in our dialogue, in our interactions, and in our football. This is a global game that connects us all and belongs to us all. To quote one of my early football coaches, simplicity is genius. Concacaf Infrastructure Project
The spokesperson said, “In a major development for the ongoing growth of football in Concacaf, Montagliani announced at the Congress that the Confederation will build a state-of-the-art sporting complex in the Dominican Republic. This facility will host centralized Concacaf competitions and football initiatives and will benefit all Concacaf Associations. This announcement follows an extensive RFP process that was open to all Member Associations and saw several bids to host what will be a game-changing initiative for football in the region. The new sporting complex will eliminate many of the travel and logistical challenges faced by Concacaf federations and provide a high-quality facility that will benefit the entire Concacaf football family.

“Towards the end of the congress, President Montagliani took the opportunity to sincerely thank Pedro Chaluja for his many years of service to the game as a member of the Concacaf and FIFA Councils. Mr. Chaluja will now serve as UNCAF President.
“President Montagliani also recognized and congratulated former UNCAF President Rafael Tinoco for his significant contribution over many years to football in Central America and across Concacaf.”
