Bermuda karting driver Scott Barnes retained his Shifters Masters title in the Skusa Winter Series at the weekend.
Barnes led the standings heading into the final two rounds of the competition at the Homestead-Miami Motorplex in Florida after dominating the opening two rounds at the same venue last month.
The 38-year-old increased his points lead after winning two heat races and one of the two final races, including the fastest lap for ten bonus points.
“I was a little disappointed on Saturday [in qualifying]; I was a bit off my game, but I bounced back on Sunday, winning three races, including a finals race,” the Bermuda Karting Club president told Bernews.
“I’m happy with back-to-back championships. That was the goal coming into the series. We won three out of the four final races in the series, so I have to be happy with that.”
Barnes, sponsored by Butterfield and Vallis, added: “I have to thank my team, Magik Kart USA, my tuner, and my mate Jeff Sousa, who came out from Bermuda to help me. It’s been a good series.”
