BWS: Gale Warning For Tuesday & Wednesday
[Updated] The Bermuda Weather Service [BWS] has issued a Gale Warning valid for late Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning and noted that there is “even the potential for small hail/graupel.”
In an online post, the Bermuda Weather Service said, “An area of low pressure is forecast to develop to our north tonight into tomorrow. The low will bring gale force winds from late Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning, with the strongest winds and gusts likely during Tuesday evening.
“The low will also drive a cold front through the island Tuesday evening with the heaviest rain, showers and chance of thunderstorms likely then. During the late afternoon to early evening, storm force gusts [brief increases in the sustained winds], up to 50 knots, are expected, especially in and around the heavier showers.
“As the low slowly exits to the east over the next few days, windy conditions, cooler temperatures and blustery showers linger through the end of the week. There is even the potential for small hail/graupel, Wednesday through Thursday, with the higher potential for it to occur on Wednesday.
“A small craft warning is in effect for This Afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. A gale warning is in effect for Late Tuesday Afternoon until Wednesday morning. Another small craft warning is in effect for Wednesday morning through Wednesday night.
