Stempel Achieves Qualifying Scores For NAYC
Bermuda dressage rider Robin Stempel has successfully achieved the requisite qualifying scores to participate in the 2023 North American Youth Championship [NAYC].
A spokesperson said, “Riding Rossano Royal 2 at the Bruce’s Field Dressage held in Aiken South Carolina on 18th and 19th February, Robin scored 67.3% in the both the Team Test and the Individual Test. More recently, on 4th and 5th March, Robin and Rossano scored 65.7% in the Team Test, 67.1% in the Individual Test and a commendable 70.1% in their Freestyle Test.
“Having gained valuable experience competing in the Junior division at the 2021 NAYC Championship, it is Robin’s intention to compete, this year, in the Young Rider division in which participants compete at Prix St. George level. Robin is thrilled to have secured her qualifying scores well within the qualification period of 26th July 2022 and 19th June 2023. Going forth, Robin intends to focus on further improving and tweaking her freestyle test. Robin will continue in competition as she finds it extremely beneficial and helpful to receive feedback and scores from a variety of dressage judges.
“Robin is a third-year bio-chemistry student at High Point University. With the academic demands of university, Robin did not compete last season. Rather, Robin, chose to concentrate on developing her dressage skills under the guidance of highly regarded coach Tami Batts of Fellowship Farm, North Carolina.
“The FEI North American Youth Championships [NAYC] is the premier equestrian competition in North America for junior and young riders [ages 14-21] and U25 [ages 16-25]. Young equestrians vie for team and individual FEI medals in the Olympic equestrian disciplines of dressage as well as in show jumping. The competition is run under FEI [Federation Equestre Internationale], the international governing body of equestrian sport. The 2023 Championships will be held from 7th – 13th August 2023 in Traverse City, Michigan, USA.
