Joint Ministerial Council To Be Held In May

March 9, 2023

The next Joint Ministerial Council –which leaders of the British Overseas Territories including Bermuda normally attend — will be held on 11-12 May 2023.

This is according to comments made in the British Parliament session earlier this week, with Conservative MP Lord Randall of Uxbridge asking the British Government “whether they have set a date for the Joint Ministerial Council with the Overseas Territories in respect of the meeting postponed in November 2022.”

In response, Minister of State [Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office] Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park said, “The UK Government greatly values the Joint Ministerial Council with the Overseas Territories as the main forum to discuss issues of mutual interest and to agree actions to tackle shared challenges. The next Joint Ministerial Council will be held on 11-12 May 2023.”
