102 Students To Graduate From Bermuda College
102 Bermuda College students will receive associate degrees, diplomas or certificates on Thursday [May 18], under the big tent on the College’s athletic field.
A spokesperson said, “Half of the Class of 2023 will be graduating with honours, earning either merit [GPA 3.0 – 3.49 [29%]] or distinction [GPA 3.5 – 4.0 [25%].
“The Associate of Arts [Business Administration] programme has produced 22 graduates, once again dominating the associate degree programme offerings. Fourteen students are dual enrolment students who will be awarded associate degrees or certificates, prior to receiving their high school graduation certificates next month from their respective high schools.
“Ten students will be graduated from the Mount Saint Vincent Bachelors in Business Administration programme. Six of the ten, with distinction.”
It will be the last Commencement for College President, Dr. Duranda Greene, who retires from the College after 38 years of service; sixteen, as its president.
“The Class of 2023 will always hold a special place in my heart,” she stated. “This ceremony will be bittersweet. Ensuring that Bermuda College stays relevant to the community has been the singular focus of my tenure as president. Saying goodbye will be difficult, but extremely rewarding knowing that as a team, we’ve all been able to achieve so much.”
The spokesperson said, “The 2023 Commencement speaker is Dr. Carika Weldon, biochemist and Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of CariGenetics. Dr. Weldon is also an adjunct faculty member at the College.
“Jayden Cheeseman, Associate of Science [Education], is the Graduate Speaker for the Class of 2023.
“The ceremony will be livestreamed on CITV beginning at 2:30 p.m.”
