$441 Prize For Bermuda Charge Art Contest

In celebration of the 5th anniversary of their annual motor show, Bermuda Charge has announced a Call for Entries for artists on the island.

A spokespersons said, “Every year the Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge brings local and international media exposure to Bermuda, showcasing much of what makes it a great place to live and vacation. This year’s show has been named Motor Fest 441, as the organisation attempts to enlist 441 plus riders for the end-of-show charity ride-out.”

“For decades iconic artwork has helped capture both the thrill and the beauty of motor culture around the world. Art tells a compelling story,” explained Bermuda Charge Director, Whitney Butterfield.

“And it has played a vital role in communicating our vision – before our first show in 2018, we had no proprietary content ahead of time, so we tasked McGinger Design Lab with illustrating a poster that would clearly show what we were setting out to achieve. The poster went on to feature in a graphic design exhibition that year.”

“For the next four years, we returned with a similar remit. This year was the toughest poster challenge yet for McGinger – to create a movie theme design for Motor Fest 441, using photos taken at last year’s show, presenting it in the style of the iconic action packed poster from vintage James Bond movie “From Russia With Love”.

“We’re a very creative organisation, and we thought it would be fun to run a bike life T-shirt contest. Think of V80s, Mobys and Cubs – think of ride-outs and race meets. Bermuda’s vibrant bike culture is authentic, and we want to support local artists in bringing this to the forefront. So the theme for this challenge is “Bermuda’s Unique Bike Life”, and the top 3 designs will be printed on shirts displayed at Motor Fest 441. The winning design will also receive a trophy, and feature as a small batch T-shirt available at Sneaker Plug, which is an artistic and stylish apparel store in St George’s!”

“Each of the top 3 designers will also receive a cash prize; $441 for the winner [ref. Motor Fest 441], and $202.3 [ref. 2023] for each runner-up. We’re really excited to see how artists in our community interpret the colourful vibes of our motoring heritage and culture”
