Age Concern Appoint Pringle-DeSilva & Dr Bean

Age Concern announced that Mercedes Pringle-DeSilva is their new Executive Director and Dr. Edonna Bean will be their Operations Manager of Programs.

A spokesperson said, “Age Concern announces the promotion of their Executive Director and hiring of their Operations Manager of Programs.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors of Age Concern we are delighted to finally be able to announce Mercedes Pringle-DeSilva as the permanent Executive Director of Age Concern. Mercedes has been working diligently with us since 2018.

“Whilst she has predominantly been working in programming and operations management in this time period, she has also been actively working on extending her skills in fund development and financial management which in combination with her hard work and bubbly personality has allowed her to rise to the top. This is a fantastic opportunity for Mercedes and shows the positive momentum of our organisation. We are excited to see her take Age Concern into its next chapter. Congratulations Mercedes!!!

“In addition, we welcomed to our team on May 1st, 2023, the new Operations Manager of Programs, Dr. Edonna Bean! Mrs. Bean joins us with a wealth of knowledge and over 20 years of experience.

“As the former Executive Director of The Transformational Living Centre [TLC] for Families as well as a Case Manager with the Ministry of Social Development and Seniors, she takes great pride in serving her community and ultimately doing her very best to make a difference. Dr. Bean’s role will encompass managing, overseeing and further developing the Age Concern programs. She will be leading, coordinating and conducting events and workshops related to our programs.

“Dr Bean’s sincerity, graceful assurance, vibrant and enthusiastic approach are traits that make her the perfect fit for this role.”

Dr. Bean stated that, “We can make a difference tomorrow for our aging population together as a community one older adult at a time.” Dr. Bean who is a dedicated member of society, has a well rooted passion for seniors and families.

The spokesperson added, “Finally, the Age Concern Team would like to thank members of the public for their continued support. More recently, for their input into our 2023-2026 Strategic Plan. We received excellent suggestions on our programs and operations from multiple stakeholder groups within the community.
