Bermuda In Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

[Updated with video] Bermuda’s Special Olympics team joined with athletes around the world to take part in the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony in Berlin, Germany, with the island’s team led into the stadium by two Gombeys.

The organisers said, “From 17 – 25 June 2023, Berlin, Germany will welcome 7,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from approximately 170 countries to compete in 24 sports. The athletes will be supported by more than 3,000 coaches and 20,000 volunteers.”

Team Bermuda

Athletics: Kris Trott, Laura Repose, Kimo Robinson, Solay Thomas, Kemari Dill, and Jaime Brangman. Coaches: Chayce Smith, Juanita Easton and Mujib Swan.

Bowling: Aishauntae Symons, Carlton Thompson, Tiannai Lowe, Patrick Thomas, Ciara Bell, and Wayne Smith. Coaches: Chandra Lee-Bascome and Jordan Bascome.

Equestrian: Eden Woollery. Coach: Jennifer Howard.

Swimming: Aaria Logie, Exodus Somner, and Chevon Burrows. Coaches: Chris Cunningham.

Tennis: Zahar O’Loughlin, Bridget Marshall and Micah Lambert. Coach: Brent Smith.
