Bermuda men’s rugby sevens team enjoyed an impressive second day of competition, defeating Costa Rica 24-7 and drawing 14-14 with Jamaica at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, El Salvador, yesterday [June 26].

Coach Jamie Barnwell’s side lost their two opening group A matches to Colombia, 33-0, and Venezuela, 21-14, on Sunday.

Bermuda conclude the first round of pool matches against Mexico today.

Emma Harvey finished fifth in the women’s 100 metres freestyle A final yesterday.

Harvey, who won a silver medal in the 50 backstroke on Saturday, finished in 56.88sec. Her Bermuda teammate Madelyn Moore came eighth in 58.09.

In the men’s 100 backstroke A final, Jack Harvey placed sixth in 58.35.

Also competing for Bermuda, Benedict Parfit, came fifth in the men’s 50 butterfly heat four in 25.14.

Partfit returns to the pool for the men’s 50 breaststroke heats today.

In beach volleyball, the Bermuda women’s team of Lisa LeBlanc and Meghan Calhoun lost 2-0 to Cayman Islands pair Chlouie Gaetos and Deajra Tulloch in the 15-16 classification match yesterday.

Bermuda women’s hockey team get their preliminary group B campaign underway against Barbados today.
