Bermuda midfielder Kacy Milan Butterfield has signed for English non-league side Nuneaton Borough.

Butterfield joins Nuneaton, who play in the Southern League Premier Division Central – the seventh tier of English football – from Alfreton, who play in the league above – the Vanarama National League North.

The 25-year-old, who represented Bermuda at the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2019, has previously played for non-league teams Chesterfield and Kidderminster Harriers.

Butterfield said he is eager to help the Warwickshire outfit push for promotion next season.

“After meeting with the gaffer [Jimmy Ginnelly] and Andy [Danylyszyn], it was quite easy for me to decide that Nuneaton was where I wanted to die,” he told the club website.

“The vision they have for the football club and team definitely ticked a lot of boxes. I’m here to put in the hard work and help the club gain promotion. I’m ready and excited for the upcoming season.”

Ginnelly, the Nuneaton manager, believes the combative midfielder can become an influential player at the club.

“Kacy is 6ft 4in and very tidy in the air,” he said. “He’s technically good on the ball and very tenacious in the tackle. We welcome him to the Nuneaton Borough project. Hopefully, he can help us push even further than last year’s disappointing play-offs [losing in the final to Rushall Olympic on penalties.]
