Flights Cancelled/Delayed Due To ‘Poor Visibility’
Multiple flights have been cancelled and several others diverted or delayed today [June 3] as “inclement weather and poor visibility conditions have resulted in visibility levels falling below the minimum requirements for landing.”
A Skyport spokesperson told Bernews, “Today’s inclement weather and poor visibility conditions have resulted in visibility levels falling below the minimum requirements for landing at LF Wade International Airport. Several flights have been either delayed, diverted, or altogether cancelled.
The affected flights include:
American Airlines
- AA1289 from JFK landed at 1038 after holding for approx. 25 minutes.
- AA1289 departed for JFK at 1149
- AA825 from Philadelphia- returned to PHL
- AA2044- a delayed departure from CLT waiting on weather improvements.
- AA825 from Philadelphia is again en-route with an eta of 1617.
- AA2044 from Charlotte is now en-route with an eta of 1702.
JetBlue Flights
- B6203 from Boston – diverted to JFK. Now cancelled
- B62177 from La Guardia – returned to LGA. Now cancelled
- B61931/2032 from JFK was delayed. Now cancelled
United Airlines
- UA1985 – returned to EWR. Now cancelled
Delta Airlines
- DL584 from Atlanta – diverted to JFK
Air Canada
- AC1818 is currently en-route with an eta of 1546.
British Airways
- BA159 is en-route with an eta of 1908
Skyport added, “We strongly encourage passengers to contact their respective airlines for the most up-to-date status of these flights and any necessary amendments to their travel plans.”
Huh ? The wind has been out of the NE at no more than 17mph all day and it’s a little misty out there. How do they land at night when they can’t see anything ?
Maybe the fact of the matter is the ILS is down .
RWY 12 has no ILS, so can’t use it on that runway, and 17mph is over the tailwind landing limit for those aircraft, so they couldn’t have switched RWYs.
It’s aviation.. sometimes weather just gets the best of everything.

The flights were cancelled because Bermuda’s ILS system us not functioning.
NOTAM – A0098/23 Glideslope out of service. The Skyport spokesperson may want to elaborate on how that affects aircraft landing in poor visibility.
Yes I agree that the visibility minimums they are referring to are VFR . Bermuda visibility minimums are never that bad to not be able to land unless the ILS was down.
I have been told this afternoon that ILS has been down since Friday.
ILS is only relevant for RWY 30. They were using RWY 12, so no ILS regardless. They could have used the non-precision approach to get down to 460ft but clearly the clouds were lower than that.
They couldn’t have changed to RWY 30 with the wind speeds they had.
