“While I’m not satisfied with this result, I am making progress at this level,” said Horsfield.

Coach Mark Brown notes that “Robin has committed to the Canada Cup level this year. These races are highly contested by top riders… today’s race had numerous Americans, Canada’s national champion, a New Zealander, and numerous other professional riders.

“While I would love to send press releases only about Robin’s wins, the truth is that his next step is going to require a solid year or two of humbling at the hands of North America’s strongest mountain bike athletes. That he needs to compete at this level is, in and of itself, progression.

“We need to challenge Robin so that he can develop to a point where Bermuda may see itself better known on the international stage. I am pleased with Robin’s efforts today – while 18th does not sound like much, this is a country of 40 million people and this is it’s most elite mountain bike series.”
