Lancashire Insurance Group is partnering with Waterstart Bermuda to support the charity’s plans for a sustainable campus and other initiatives on Burt Island.

A spokesperson said, “Through the Lancashire Foundation, Lancashire has donated $50,000 to the organisation as part of its community assistance programmes.

“Waterstart Bermuda’s mission is to promote personal growth and environmental awareness through experiential education. This aligns with the Lancashire Foundation’s focus on assisting environmental charities during 2023, following a successful year supporting social causes in 2022.

“The donation has been made as part of Waterstart Bermuda’s $3 million fundraising campaign to develop a sustainable campus on Burt Island, where it has been based since 2017.

“Burt Island is the hub of Waterstart’s educational outreach aimed at working with young people to develop their personal skills. It will ultimately serve as a microcosm of an ideal community and a role model in Bermuda and more widely.

“Students and members of the Burt Island network will be challenged to design and maintain sustainable systems that support the educational campus. On Wednesday 21 June, representatives from the Lancashire Foundation visited the island to see the work of the organisation for themselves.”

Jennifer Wilson, Chair of Lancashire Foundation Donations Committee, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Waterstart Bermuda on this special project. The Foundation is committed to supporting charities that provide a positive impact on the communities they serve. The work of Waterstart Bermuda is fully aligned with this focus and we are pleased to be able to play our part in nurturing the environment and assisting young people in our communities.”

My younger two children had the privilege to be in the first year of the Waterstart program with Jp Skinner. What a wonderful summer experience. The best of the best is offered here!
    Well earned!
