St. George’s Team Thank Everyone For Support

Quinell Francis Bermuda June 2023 Newly re-elected St George’s Mayor Quinell Francis and the Councillors thanked everyone for the support and said they “aim to create a welcoming and vibrant environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.”

A spokesperson said, “The Corporation of St. George’s would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support and for upholding the 200-year-old tradition of voting for the Mayor and Councillors to be the representatives for the most important matters of our beloved town.

“Your new Mayor and Councillors will be committed to working tirelessly for the betterment of our community.

“We are pleased to announce the new slate of officers for the next two-year term. Mayor Quinell Francis, JP, has been reelected to lead the Council and work with all stakeholders to ensure that we have a vibrant world heritage site plan.

“This includes engaging with residents, businesses, hospitality partners, and government partners. We will continue to strengthen our ties with Lyme Regis and Jamestown, Virginia, to elevate the town’s standing as UNESCO’s oldest continuously occupied British settlement in the New World.

“The successful municipal Residents’ Councillors— Tianny Butterfield, Elizabeth Christopher, N. Garon Dowling, Jari Ming, Lynwood Trott, and Allan Van Putten—and Business Ratepayers’ Councillors Dr. Amne Osseyran and Mr. Alfonso Harris— are united to better communicate the town’s happenings and ensure that all stakeholders are part of the progress of the Town of St. George.”

Mayor Francis said, “We believe in open communication, ensuring that everyone is informed about the happenings in our community. We will be hosting neighbourhood meetings and discussions with our business partners, our local MPs, and Ministers of Government to ensure our communications are reaching all our partners.

“Our dedication extends to including those who may not be active on social media platforms, ensuring that everyone has a voice. Furthermore, we are committed to effectively marketing our town, showcasing its unique attributes, and fostering its growth and prosperity. We aim to create a welcoming and vibrant environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.”

The spokesperson said, “The Corporation announces the first general meeting of council will take place at the Town Hall on June 22. The General Council meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month in the Town Hall, starting at 6 p.m.

“This meeting will provide an opportunity for all town constituents to attend and learn about key Corporation matters and projects that will be advanced. As a public meeting, attendees can ask questions of the Council and provide valuable feedback on the discussions.”

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the past Mayor and council for their dedicated service and hard work,” Mayor Francis added.

“We are excited to be working with the Ministry of Public Works and all our stakeholders to ensure that all recognise the importance of our World Heritage Site status and will work to educate all and continue to move St. George forward.”
