BMDS Presents Witch From October 15 To 23
Young people are taking on key roles in directing, producing and staging the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society’s latest play, Witch, with performances at the Daylesford Theatre from October 15 to 23.
A spokesperson said, “Young people are taking the lead in the production of the latest play offering from the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society. As an organisation we are trying to encourage young people to become involved with our society and all aspects of the performing arts, both on stage and behind the scenes.
“For our newest production Witch – a play by Jen Silverman, the team is led by Milo Roberts as Director, Emily Ishoj as Producer and Max Grainger as Stage Manager, all stepping into these roles for the first time in a solo capacity. Set designer and painter Hannah Horsfield, Lighting and Sound designer Ravi Lokubahithage and Marc Wilmot on Props round out the young team. We have provided a team of mentors to be in the background, but so far this team has risen to the challenge and are knocking it out of the park.
“The play Witch is about the choices and consequences of dealing with the devil. It is an inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama debating how much souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. The cast has newcomers to the BMDS stage Wendy Dill and Lill J. Bush, along with BMDS young member Machum Simmons, BMDS stalwarts Raven Baksh, Will Kempe and Owain Johnston, as the Devil, give this small cast real depth.
“The show runs at the Daylesford Theatre from October 15 – 23. Tickets for the original six performances are almost sold out, but an additional performance on Sunday 18th has just been added. Tickets are available on PTix.bm. This show contains adult content and themes so is not suitable for children.”
