Bermuda’s Nia Christopher scored for the Eagle FC team as they played to a 4-1 loss against North Carolina Courage.

The North Carolina Courage club’s match report said, “The North Carolina Courage U23 team is headed to the USL-W League Final after a 4-1 semifinal win over Eagle SC Friday night at WakeMed Soccer Park’s Field Two.

“The Courage opened the scoring midway through the first half when Lauren Martinho danced through the midfield and centered a ball for Mia Oliaro, who placed a low roller into the left corner from 25 yards out to put the home side in front. Just one minute later, the Courage again got on the attack and drew a penalty.

“The initial take was stopped, but the Eagle SC keeper was ruled off the line early to force a retry. The second go from Macey Bader was saved again, but the rebound caromed right back to her, and Bader calmly tucked it home to double the lead. In stoppage time of the first half, the Courage added some insurance with a nifty combination at the top of the box saw Brooklyn Holt set up Mackenzie Geigle wide of the left post and she finished far top corner for a third before the break.

“Eagle SC got one back at the hour mark after a build up the left side by Courtney Butlion, who served a left-footed cross for Nia Christopher to finish on a one-timer into an open net. The Courage got the goal back in the 80’ when Geigle drove into the box, forcing the Eagle SC keeper off her line to foul Geigle to prevent the clean look at goal. The penalty was buried top corner by Emily Moxley to restore the three-goal advantage.”
