Bermuda distance runner Kahzi Sealey has reflected on his comfortable victory in the Powerade 5K run yesterday.
Sealey finished the race, which started and finished at Butterfield and Vallis in Orange Valley, Devonshire, in 16min 54sec.
Kallan Richardson came second in 17:03, with Domico Watson placing third in 18:03. Gabriella Cechini was the first female in 21:09.
“I felt good about my performance,” Sealey told Bernews in a video interview. “I felt comfortable, ran for myself, and gave it my all in the last part of the race.”
The 19-year-old, who won two silver medals [the 1,500 and 5,000 metres] for Bermuda at the Carifta Games in the Bahamas in April, added: “[The course] was a bit hillier than I expected. I made a couple of moves on some hills and expected to pay for it in the end.
“My legs were a little tired. I had a good performance and enjoyed it. I look forward to the next one.”
Sealey, who recently graduated from Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, and will attend the University of North Florida, has a personal best in the 5K of 15:37.
