The Bermuda women’s hockey team achieved a win at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, after defeating Puerto Rico 4-0 yesterday [July 1].

Yvonna Osborne, Maha Clarke, Georgia Harris and Alyssa DeSilva scored the goals for Bermuda in their final preliminary round pool B game at East Park Hockey Stadium.

Bermuda will face Jamaica in a fifth-eighth classification match to determine their final place in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the bowling team was due to arrive in San Salvador yesterday in time for their trios and quintet events.

The six-man team – Dennis Joell, Damien Matthews, David Maycock, Carl Reid, Lamar Richardson, and Dayvon Tucker – missed the first three days of competition after being delayed at Newark Liberty International Airport because of thunderstorms across the region.

However, archer Camerin Pickering will not make it to El Salvador in time for his competition and will return home.

Pickering, who would have become the first Bermudian archer to compete at the CAC Games, was also delayed in Newark.
