BILTIR Announces Lineup For 2023 Conference

Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR] announced the panel lineup for the 2023 Bermuda International Life & Annuity Conference.

A spokesperson said, “This year’s conference, to be held at Pier 6, Hamilton, on September 7th, will have three panels featuring industry experts sharing their opinions on relevant topics within the life re/insurance and annuities sectors.

“Natasha Scotland-Courcy, BILTIR Chair, will moderate a panel discussing ‘The Opportunities and Challenges of Regulating Long Term Reinsurance’. She will be joined by Martin Maringi, Deputy Director Insurance Supervision, BMA; Andrew Mais, Commissioner, Connecticut Insurance Department; and Gary Anderson, Commissioner, Massachusetts Insurance Department.

“The panel will discuss topics such as the global protection gap that exists in the availability of pension benefits, the influx of capital into the sector, and cross border reinsurance.

“Club Vita will moderate a ‘Post-Covid Mortality Trends’ panel, which will feature Josh Stirling, Founder of Insurance Collaboration to Save Lives, and Jordi Posthumus, VP Longevity Trading, Hannover Re.

“The panel will explore contrasting views of future mortality trends and the potential implications for the long-term insurance and reinsurance industry in the post-pandemic world.

“BILTIR Executive Advisor, The Hon. Curtis Dickinson, will moderate a panel on ‘A New Landscape Where Asset Managers and Long Term Life Reinsurers Meet’. Joining Mr. Dickinson will be Vishal Sheth, Co-Head Global FIG, Apollo Global Management; Philip Sherrill, Chief Strategy Officer, Global Atlantic Financial Group; and Nat Barker, Head of Fixed Income Portfolio, MassMutual.

“The panel will examine key talking points including: the origins of the business; the reason long term insurance companies are looking to asset managers to assist in their asset management; the product types leveraging these new relationships; the role regulation plays in these business relationships; and the effect interest rates and inflation will have on the sector and its current trends.”
