Court: Charge Against Zane DeSilva Dropped
The court charge against MP Zane DeSilva will no longer be pursued, with Mr DeSilva saying that he “always maintained my complete innocence of this allegation, that has now been vindicated.”
The allegations related to matters involving Anthony Blakey and Savvy Entertainment, with Savvy Entertainment receiving an $800,000 loan from the Government, which was never paid back, with the loan supposed to be used for a recording studio.
Last year it was confirmed that local officials started extradition proceedings for Blakey — a U.S. citizen who resides in the United States — to appear in Court in Bermuda to stand trial on charges.
Mr DeSilva noted that Blakey “needs to be caught and stopped and I shall continue to do all I can to assist in that enterprise.”
“I am of course very pleased that this is now behind me for everyone’s sake and I can get on with looking after my constituents and the issues facing Bermuda,” he added.
