Philharmonic Offer Music Bursary & Scholarship

The Bermuda Philharmonic is extending an invitation to all music students ages 18 and younger, both instrumentalists and vocalists, to apply for the 2023 Bermuda Philharmonic Music Bursary and Scholarship Program.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Philharmonic is registered charity #323, and in addition to hosting a full concert season, the charity gives Scholarships and Bursaries on an annual basis to music students of all levels to ensure access to music education for all and nurture local talent.

How to Apply:

• Applicants must be 18 years or younger and have been studying their instrument of choice for a minimum of one year
• Fill out the application form which is available on our website https://bermudaphilharmonic.org/scholarships/
• Applicants are required to submit a Letter of Recommendation from a Music Teacher along with a Personal Letter outlining their musical journey, passion, and reasons for seeking a Bursary or Scholarship.
• The application deadline is set for Sunday, October 1st 2023 at midnight.
• Auditions for the Scholarship and Bursary applicants will be conducted on Sunday, October 8th 2023 at the Bermuda School of Music, 2nd Floor Validus Room, between 12-5 pm. Applicants can indicate their preferred audition time in the application form.
• An email will be sent after the application deadline confirming your audition time and if all of your supporting documents have been received

Audition Details:

• Each student is expected to perform 1-2 pieces of their choosing, with a total duration of approximately 10 minutes, in front of a panel of three judges
• Vocalists are permitted to arrange for piano accompaniment
• Scholarship applicants will be evaluated heavily on their merit and technical ability- this is intended for advanced students who actively participate in music initiatives in Bermuda
• Bursary applicants will be evaluated based on their financial need as well as their enthusiasm, passion for music education, and technical ability
