Jessica Lewis has revealed she is moving to Victoria, British Columbia, to train under her new coach Geoff Harris at the Athletics Canada West Hub.

The sprinter, who has been based in Mississauga, Ontario, for the past 12 years, teamed up with Harris, a former Canada 800 metres runner, in June.

“Big life update: I’m moving to Victoria BC this week!” Lewis posted on Facebook yesterday [September 12]. “A huge change with an amazing opportunity and adventure ahead to work with coach Geoff full time.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Athletics Canada for welcoming me into their West Hub training environment as an international athlete.”

Lewis, who specialises in the T53 100, added: “It’s definitely bittersweet leaving Ontario, which has been my second home for 12 years. I don’t think it has fully hit me yet.

“To all the phenomenal people I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by, I know those relationships will always be there, and I’m thankful for your support.

“This island girl is getting back to an island!”

For the past five years, Lewis has trained under coach Curtis Thom, the son of her longtime mentor, Ken Thom, who died in 2017.

The 30-year-old competed at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris last month.
