Stefan Simmons scored to help his Thomas College team to a win a football match against Central Maine Community College.

The college’s match report said, “Andrew Hodgins scored two goals in the second half to lead Men’s Soccer to a 3-2 win over Central Maine Community College on Sunday, September 24th, 2023.

“The Terriers put on the pressure early, with four different Terriers taking six shots total in the first seven minutes. Mustang goalkeeper Daniel Lukonda was forced to make three saves.

“In the 8th minute, Stefan Simmons took a shot from 30 yards out, which beat Lukonda to take a 1-0 lead.

“The Mustangs responded with a few minutes of possession which created a shot on target, which Terrier goalkeeper Keein Wright scooped up.

“In the 42nd minute, the Terriers looked to score their second goal, but a shot from Lens Louis was saved again by Lukonda.

“The Mustangs scored in the 46th minute, to tie the score up at 1-1 against the run of play.

“The Terriers responded in the 61st minute, as Carter Pelletier sent a pass into Andrew Hodgins, who scored to take back the lead 2-1.

“Following the goal, the Terriers again amped up the pressure. Mustang goalkeeper Carter Gregoire was forced to make three saves in just under a minute.

“In the 65th minute, Terrier goalkeeper Beyden Stratton was forced to make two saves in 30 seconds, but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs scored again to tie the game at 2-2.

“Hodgins was able to respond in the next minute with two shots that forced two good saves from Gregoire.

“In the 72nd minute, Hodgins was played a ball from Dave Louis and found the back of the net again, to take a 3-2 lead.

“In the 77th minute, the Terriers had five shots in a row, all were either wide, or blocked by a Mustang defender.

“The Terriers were able to control the remaining 13 minutes, earning a 3-2 win.

“The Terriers outshot the Mustangs 41-10 in an exciting contest.

“Three Terrier goalkeepers saw time in net today. Wright started the game, playing 35 minutes and making one save. Jayce Nielsen played 26 minutes, making one save. Finally, Stratton was in net for the remaining 28 minutes, making three saves.

“Two Mustang goalkeepers were between the posts today. Lukonda got the start, playing 45 minutes and making six saves. Gregoire played the second half, making an extremely impressive 12 saves.

“The Terriers will travel to Brunswick, Maine to take on Bowdoin College on September 27th, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.”
