Students Earn Southampton Parish Scholarships

Areena Brown, Zaria Hill, Mya Butterfield, Keturah Bulford-Trott, Tre Outerbridge and Guielle Bean have all earned scholarships from the Southampton Parish Council.

Parish Council Chairperson Ms Stacey-Lee Williams stated, “As a community organisation, Council Members are grateful to serve our Parish Residents; whether it is Southampton’s clever students, our treasured seniors, ferry users or our innovative business owners. However, awarding scholarships is one of our most rewarding initiatives, and we wish all Recipients the very best in their studies!”

A spokesperson said, “This year’s recipients are:

  • Ms Areena Brown who is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management at St. Mary’s University in Canada;
  • Ms Zaria Hill who is undertaking a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management at the University of Alabama A&M in the US;
  • Ms Mya Butterfield who is pursuing Media Production at Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada;
  • Ms Keturah Bulford-Trott who will be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health & pre Pharmacy at University of Baltimore, Maryland County in the US;
  • Mr Tre Outerbridge who is studying Physiotherapy at University of East London in England; and
  • Ms Guielle Bean who is pursuing a Bachelor of Legal Laws at University of Kent in England.

Scholarship Committee Chair Mr Corey Butterfield stated, “Although we do not have a large pool of money, we know that when we support a student, our awards significantly impact that Recipients’ educational journey.

“The 2023 Recipients are among the most diverse applicants we have had as they are studying Law, Public Health, Business and others; and the Committee was quite impressed with each Recipient. We look forward to hearing about their progress and success in the years to come. Well done!”
