Asthma Pop Up Bermuda October 2023

Open Airways Asthma Nurse Lindsay Bishop will be ‘popping-up’ in Washington Mall from 11am to 1:30pm every Friday in the month of November, beginning this Friday, November 3rd.

A spokesperson said, “Do you have good control of your asthma? Are you wheezing, coughing, or waking at night with your asthma? Are you using your blue relief inhaler more than twice a week? Have you been to the emergency room this year for a flare up of your asthma? Are you over 12 years old and only use Ventolin?

“Asthma is very common in Bermuda affecting about 8000 people – adults and children alike.

“Many people with asthma do not have good control and are accepting a life with asthma symptoms, they feel it is normal to use their blue relief inhaler regularly. Every emergency room visit for asthma is a failure of asthma management and on average 4 people visit the emergency room every day for asthma attacks.

“Open Airways wants to improve this and is encouraging people with asthma to reach out for help. Come and talk to us on Fridays at our Washington Mall pop-ups [Reid Street level near Mall Passport & Photo Studio] or contact us on 536-6060 or nurse@openairways.com. Lindsay is also available to schedule a free home visit, providing more extensive discussions surrounding asthma, triggers and more. No referral is required.

“Pop-by our pop-up and ask Lindsay any of your questions. She will check your inhaler technique, advise on asthma treatment choices, discuss asthma triggers and provide a spacer if needed.

“Every Friday in November from 11-1:30pm. Open Airways – Helping Bermuda Breathe!”
