BCHC Launch ‘MOvember’ Initiative
Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre has launched its 2026 MOvember campaign to raise funds for men’s health initiatives.
A spokesperson said, “Men across the island encouraged to shave by November 1, grow a MO, move for MOvember or host a fundraiser for men’s health. Have one last shave.
“That’s the message from Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre as it invites Bermuda to take part in MOvember Bermuda 2026. Men planning to grow a moustache are encouraged to start clean-shaven on November 1 before growing their MO throughout the month. But participation is not limited to moustache growers. Women, families, workplaces, sports teams and community groups are all encouraged to get involved.
“While the moustache has become the symbol of MOvember, the campaign is about much more than facial hair. It is about encouraging men to pay attention to their health, start important conversations and seek help when something doesn’t feel right.”
“A moustache can start a conversation, but we want that conversation to lead to action,” said Dr Chris Fosker, CEO and Medical Director of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. “Know what is normal for you, understand your family history and speak to a healthcare professional about any changes or concerns. MOvember is also an opportunity to help more people access care here in Bermuda.”
The spokesperson said, “This year, supporters can take part in four ways: Grow a MO, MOve for MOvember, Host a MOment, or MO Your Own Way. Whether that’s growing a moustache, taking on a personal fitness challenge, hosting an event, or creating a fundraiser of your own, every participant helps raise awareness and funds for men’s health in Bermuda. MOvember is open to everyone, including women, families, workplaces, sports teams, community groups and individuals who want to support the cause.
“This year, MOvember Bermuda is aiming to raise $60,000 in support of men’s health education and the Centre’s Equal Access Fund, which helps remove financial barriers to care by subsidising the cost of cancer screening, early detection and treatment services, ensuring more people in Bermuda can access the care they need.
“To celebrate the people, stories and fundraising efforts that make MOvember possible, participants and supporters are invited to the MOFinale on Saturday, November 28, from 2pm to 6pm at Moongate Brewery. At the event, people can join the MOvember Bermuda community to recognise participants and teams, celebrate the collective impact made for men’s health throughout the month, and cheer on Grow a MO participants as they shave off their moustaches if they choose. Attendance is free for registered participants, while members of the public can attend by purchasing tickets online. Fun MO awards will be presented during the event
“MOvember activities continue through November 30, with fundraising remaining open until December 11. Fundraising award winners will be announced after the campaign closes.
“Whether you grow a MO, take on a movement challenge, host a fundraising event or support someone who is participating, every conversation started and every dollar raised helps make a difference.
“Registration is open now at www.movember.bm. Participants can register as individuals, create or join a team, and create their own fundraising page.”
