Female Dies After Collision In Sandys
A female motorcycle rider has died following a collision in Sandys, the police have confirmed.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, 9 November 2023 police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision on Somerset Road near the junction with Clyde Best Lane, Sandys, involving a car and a motorcycle.
“Details are limited at this time however, it is believed that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the collision occurred.
“The female rider of the motorcycle was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, but sadly she has succumbed to her injuries. The male driver of the car was not reported to be injured and has since been arrested in connection with the incident.
“Traffic is being diverted at Long Bay Lane and Gilbert Lane while police process the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 or 211.
