Fortitude Reinsurance has donated $100,000 to Bermuda Education Network [BEN] to “support the vital programs the nonprofit provides to students and teachers within the community.”

A spokesperson said, “Fortitude Reinsurance Company Ltd. today reaffirmed its commitment to education and literacy by selecting Bermuda Education Network [BEN] as the beneficiary of their annual charitable giving for the second time.

“Founded in 2011, BEN leverages the power of community to enhance student literacy, while also creating opportunities for teachers to develop their leadership skills, expand their repertoire for curriculum enhancement and their confidence as problem solvers in their school.”

Amanda Stewart, Head of Employee Experience, Fortitude Re and newly appointed BEN Board Member said, “Supporting education is an investment in the future of both our community and our company. By actively supporting our local students, we can help shape the next generation of talent, fostering a well-educated workforce that will drive innovation and growth in Bermuda.”

“As a Fortitude Re community partner, BEN has received $100,000 from the company to support the vital programs the nonprofit provides to students and teachers within the community. In addition to the funding, Fortitude Re employees volunteer as story readers at the BEN Book Club, a monthly event for young children and their families.

Anna Masters, AVP, Strategic Finance, Fortitude Re said, “This significant donation in Bermuda highlights our vision to support local causes where we live and work. Fortitude Re recognizes the profound difference that additional literacy programs can make – not only for those who are struggling with reading but for children at every stage.”

Becky Ausenda, founder of BEN said, “Fortitude Re’s remarkable contribution this year is a game-changer for our literacy programs. It empowers us to expand our reach and provide crucial reading support to children who need it most. We are truly grateful for their financial support and for Amanda’s leadership as a board member. Her contributions will be instrumental in building our human resources strategy and sustaining donor relationships.”

Stewart continued, “BEN’s reading programs and their vision of a professional learning community who can collaborate and share expertise, ultimately helping more children was a mission our employees wanted to support. I am excited to have the opportunity to get more involved and share what I learn about BEN’s mission with others in our industry.”
