‘Gather For Gaza’ Event On November 13

November 7, 2023 | 36 Comments

To “show support for the protection of innocent lives,” the ‘Gather for Gaza’ event will be held in front of City Hall on Monday [Nov 13] from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

A spokesperson said, “A collective of concerned Bermudian residents from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, Atheist, Agnostic and other religious and non-religious backgrounds have come together. The collective is calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians and the safe release of Israeli hostages and Palestinians taken and held without charge or trial.

“To show support for the protection of innocent lives, an event is being hosted called, Gather for Gaza, in front of City Hall in Hamilton, on November 13th from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.

“The event will feature speeches, music, poetry and an information booth to aid attendees in cultivating a better understanding of the ongoing genocide and its history. To close, there will be a candlelit vigil and a moment of silence in remembrance of the souls lost to these attacks. A limited number of candles will be provided, but please also bring your own. We welcome all to join us in solidarity.

“Since October 7, at least 10,022 people have been killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks as well as at least 155 people in the Occupied West Bank. There have been over 4,891 children killed, roughly 26,000 people have been injured and over 1.5 million people have been displaced, which equates to well over half of the population. More than 1,405 people have been killed in Israel and 5,600 people have been injured. There is absolutely no justification for the killing, injuring and abduction of civilians.

“Residents of Gaza have flocked to hospitals and United Nations schools for safety, hoping that Israel will abide by international law and not attack those coordinates. However, places of shelter and medical care have also not been free from Israeli attacks. 150 medical staff have now been killed, 28 ambulances destroyed and 50 ambulances damaged. 16 out of 35 hospitals are out of service in the Gaza Strip and 32 medical care facilities are out of operation.

“At least 36 journalists have been killed; 31 were Palestinian, 4 Israeli journalists and one Lebanese, since the Israel-Gaza war began on October 7th. [These figures have been reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry, Palestine Red Crescent Society and Israeli Medical Services.]

“Martin Griffiths, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator said so far, 329 trucks carrying aid have entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing with Egypt, which opened on 21 October, with 100 making the journey on Thursday alone. However, he said an average of 500 truckloads were needed daily prior to the conflict.

“The Israeli government is continuing to blatantly disregard International Law and we fear what further consequences this may have. Innocent people in Palestine and Israel have lost their lives and are continuing to do so. Entire families in Gaza are being wiped out, homes are reduced to rubble and basic human rights for safety, as well as access to clean water, food and medical supplies are not being respected. These basic human rights should always be prioritized and respected, as should the safety of humanitarian workers and members of the press.”

Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, said, “At this critical hour, we appeal to all to pull back from the brink before the violence claims even more lives and spreads even further.”

The spokesperson said, “Both Israel and Hamas disregarding UN efforts to resolve this conflict is a global concern that regards us all.”

Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF], said she believed that “The true cost of this latest escalation will be measured in children’s lives — those lost to the violence and those forever changed by it.”

The spokesperson said, “We are preoccupied with the overwhelming amount of inflammatory news coverage and misinformation being spread world-wide, which seems to give some the justification to lack empathy for human suffering and to stoke hatred of diaspora groups and religions. We need to come together to stop the spread of Islamophobia and antisemitism, and empower one another to promote peace.

“We believe peace is needed now! Ceasefire is needed now! The release of hostages is needed now! An end to the occupation of Palestine is needed now! Injury to one is injury to all!”

  1. LOL (original) says:

Which part of Gaza is occupied?

  2. LOL (original) says:

Just remember you can’t advocate for peace using violence. We do not want to see death on either side. However we have just seen the death a Jewish man in NY after blunt trauma to the head the man fell down and died at one of these “peace full protests”.

LOL operation mockingbird people said that was crazy………..

    • sage says:

What about the terrorist that stabbed the 6 year old Palestinian boy, 26 times, to death and severly injured his mom in Illinois?

      • LOL (original) says:

What about him? The white house made statements about it, Garland is looking into it and he has been arrested. Also he does not seem to have any ties to any group so he must be a terrorist by himself, right? Maybe more information is needed to label him a terrorist, psyco maybe. He was a landlord so he must have been ok with them when he agreed to rent to them. Seems like more to the story to me but you never know.

LOL what was your point exactly or are you trying to justify evil by pointing out other evil. Why not just agree that both incidents represent evil?

      • LOL (original) says:

As stated above the causing of death is not expectable on either side.

LOL question to Sage which part of Gaza was occupied?

      • Tucker says:

        Typical american. What’s your point?

  3. James says:

Hang on, aren’t Hamas currently holding 200 hostages?

I’m sorry but you don’t pander to terrorists, if Hamas had 200 of my countrymen, women and children, I wouldn’t be talking peace until every one of them were safely returned.

Hamas, Gaza brought this on themselves. I stand with Israel.

    • Red Pill says:

200 hostages, is that what the mainstream media is telling you?

      • question says:

Hamas says it’s 250. It’s them saying it, not just the media. Hamas are the only ones that know the exact number, of course, because we don’t know exactly how many kidnapped people they have raped, tortured, and killed.

    • sage says:

Would you bomb the crap out of and completely destroy everything in the area your countrymen where being held in before attempting rescue, out of revenge and just consider them expendable or simply collateral damage? What if they were your family?

      • Joe Bloggs says:

If my neighbour invaded my home in the middle of the night and murdered my children there is no end to the revenge I would seek.

And crying to the other neighbours that I was trying to hurt them for no good reason would only enrage me more.

        • sage says:

if someone invaded your home and kidnapped or killed your kids, god forbid, and you killed the people responsible you would go straight to prison, if you killed innocent people because they enraged you by crying over your arbitrary attack and killed the hostages in your blood lust for revenge, what would you have accomplished? You would get life behind bars or the death sentence in civilized countries.

          • Joe Bloggs says:

I was drawing an analogy with the Israel-Palestine conflict.

If you want a parochial Bermuda answer I would refer you to Deuteronomy 19:21 “And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.”

  4. Question says:

Perhaps Hamas could start by releasing the hostages.

  5. Joe Bloggs says:

First question: when is the Gather for Ukraine event and why is there no demand for a humanitarian pause in Russia’s war against Ukraine?

Second question: why is there no acknowledgement that the current events in Gaza follow an invasion of Israel by Hamas, the government of Gaza, resulting in the execution of 1400 people and the kidnapping of around 240 more?

    • PBanks says:

I’m pretty sure Bermuda, like many countries in the ‘West’ showed tremendous concern for the Ukraine situation when it began, you couldn’t go twenty feet without seeing a Ukraine flag or sticker and certain businesses dedicating funds will be used to support causes.

  6. PRH says:

I am sorry to see how soon people seem to forget the terrorist attack on Israeli civilians by the terrorists Hamas on Oct 7th — which happened during a cease fire — and which is not mentioned in this article.

Terrorists actually target civilians. Governments give notice to civilians to evacuate because they are in military targets. The surrounding Arab countries should be taking in the Palestinian civilians as a humanitarian gesture.

I am also sorry to see that there is only an anonymous spokesperson for this event with no naming of the sponsors of the event.

We all want world peace and none of us wants innocent civilians killed. The collateral damage of innocent civilians during a war is a terrible tragedy, as are hostages. Prayers for all innocents.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

“no naming of the sponsors of the event.”

Could that be because Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei is sponsoring this as he does so many proxy groups around the world?

  7. trufth says:

Cool. When and where will the “Gather for Israel” be held?

    • PBanks says:

Based on the article discussing the lives lost in Israel as well, the event appears multifaceted and encompassing.

      • question says:

It mentions the ‘Israeli hostages’. The organisers seem completely unaware that many of the hostages are from other countries, and are not Israelis. Also no mention of the 1,400 people butchered. Or the fact that noncombatants have had 3 weeks to get to safety.

        • Joe Bloggs says:

Sadly, non-combatants have not had 3 weeks to get to safety. Egypt has kept the Rafah crossing closed until a few days ago. And even then many foreigners and dual-nationals have not been allowed to leave Gaza. The Rafah crossing is the only way out of Gaza that does not lead to Israel or the Mediterranean Sea.

If the Rafah crossing were thrown open there is a very good chance that Hamas paramilitary fighters (or “terrorists”) would try to blend in and then relocate and attack Israel from elsewhere.

          • Question says:

Yes they have had 3+ weeks. They were told to go from north Gaza to South Gaza. It’s nothing to fo with the crossing into Egypt. That’s irrelevant.

  8. Truth says:

“when is the Gather for Ukraine event and why is there no demand for a humanitarian pause in Russia’s war against Ukraine?”

Bermudians have chosen to support the people who they think are black.

    • LOL (original) says:

Form reports I am seeing the Ukraine v Russia is effectively over as Ukraine are now begging countries for money to rebuild. Ukraine was never going to win this conflict which if you know anything about it was started in 2014 with the NATO installed (basically) Zelinsky started bombing the Donbas region killing its own citizens that supported ties with Russia. Dems had servers there and the US had a bunch of “medical research” bio labs in the area that only got mentioned once Russia invaded. Ukraine was used by international powers at their detriment and should have never happened without all of the outside influence. Our great Briton even retarded pace talks as well as some NATO countries. Think about that.

LOL The Global Agenda doesn’t include us norms if you think it does you are deluded.

    • LOL (original) says:

Results of DEI and woke nonsense aka anti-white hate) check your schools this crap is here and has been for a long time.

LOL Operation Mocking Bird did not stop just look at the types of commercials
and adds on youtube, insta, tiktoc and other social apps. They want tyou to give aid which Terrorist in the area will steel and use to build bunkers and purchase weapons.

If Israel put down their guns there would be genocide if Hamas drops their guns there would be a peace two state solution and peace. Ben Shapero and yes the baby picture turned out to be real and not AI generated. FYI

    • PBanks says:

Not about being black, but likely about a group seen as oppressed.

      • Truth says:

LOL….oppressed, like Bermudians are by their chosen government?

When you attack a country, and take hostage’s….expect to be eradicated.
When you start a fight, don’t run away and claim you’re being oppressed….it just makes you look like an ignorant fool.

        • PBanks says:

Pointing out the perception by many peoples of various backgrounds and residencies across the globe.

Whether they truly are, or are complicit, or are pawns throughout… That probably depends on your political slant on this and other geopolitical issues.

    • Bill says:

      @truth

You have hit the nail on the head.

The people supporting this march have absolutely no idea what is going on. Israel equals white oppressor, everyone else is close enough to black victims.

      Absolute idiots.

    • Joe Bloggs says:

“Bermudians have chosen to support the people who they think are black”

Please do not use such collectives. We do not all think alike or hold the same opinions.

  9. Mark says:

Hamas/Iran/ISIS have really stepped up their propaganda game! Now these nonsensical positions have come to our shores. Whenever they use terms like colonization, occupation, genocide you demonstrate a severe lack of understanding and that you have been duped by the jihadists. What other country in the world has to have its very existence questioned every day? How can people not see that Hamas is using its own people as human shields and wants them to die? Its sad really and i hope people read and try and learn things outside of their social media bubble. This is very scary when there are mass protests against basic human rights and democratic values all over the world. I hope someone or some people who are far smarter than me can show up to this event and educate everyone there.

  10. Red Pill says:

It seems that the brainwashed people in the west are not seeing the entire picture. Isreal are just as evil, the mainstream media in the west are painting the picture of Isreal as the innocent victims, innocent victims is far from the truth. I suggest that you all do your proper research and not from CNN or any other western propaganda mainstream media before you start taking sides.

    • Truth says:

LOL….right, you’re the ONE with all the truth.

      How pathetically childish of you.

You’ve succumbed to propaganda, and you’re too ignorant to recognize it.

      I’m embarrassed for you.

    • Interesting says:

I guess those tricky jews are controlling it all, huh? SMH. Do you also deny the holocaust happened? Or believe there were no jews present in the World Trade Center before the towers were brought down? funny how these conspiracies are very often rooted in antisemitism.

Hamas leader Muhammad Deif said: “We love death for Allah as much as the jews love life.” He also said that many more Palestinian women and children need to die and give their blood for the cause so they can remove the jews. do people realise how dangerous this organisation is and how desperately Israel must remove them? they tried ceasefires and trading land for peace. it just doesn’t work. unless your very existence is being threatened daily by enemies who surround your country, you can’t possibly judge Israel for the urgency with which they act to remove terror threats.

Palestinians are the victims of their leaders first and foremost. they also brainwash their people into a mindset that celebrates death. it’s why jihadists cry tears of joy and celebrate the killing of jews. That thinking is why An-Najah University in the West Bank town of Nablus had an ‘art display’ celebrating the anniversary of a suicide bomber who killed 15 innocent people including women and children at a cafe. the ‘art’ used fake body parts and fake blood to portray the horrific scene. SMH

meanwhile Israel goes far beyond what any army has in world history to try to avoid civilian casualties. the issue is Hamas is using their people as human shields and WANTS their own people to die to try and paint Israel as the bad guy and to inspire more jihadists to join their suicidal death cult.

pray for innocent Palestinians and work towards helping them. but it has to start with removing their leaders and removing the call for the extermination of the jewish people. do NOT criticise Israel for attempting to remove one of the most evil terrorist organisations the world has seen.
