“Please stop genocide,” “You don’t need to be Muslim to support Palestine, you just need to be human” and ‘Ceasefire now” were some of the messages on signs being held as people gathered for a event titled “Walk for Peace” in Hamilton today [Nov 4].

“We are asking and we’re begging the world to do something and just put some sort of pressure to put an end to this deadly war that just will not lead anywhere,” one attendee told Bernews.

  1. Interesting says:

Using terms like ‘genocide’ demonstrates the ignorance of your position. Hamas are the ones whose STATED GOAL is not just the elimination of Israel as a state but the obliteration of the Jewish race.

You may disagree with Israel’s methods in pursuing terrorists whose sole goal is their extermination. But you cannot call Israel genocidal. If they wanted a genocide, they would be purposely targeting civilians. They are not.

And i find it most ironic and very telling that you are so quick to criticize Israel for defending their right to EXIST. But did you criticize Hamas for starving their own people? For openly stating their desire to use them as human shields? Or for throwing people off buildings for not adhering to their strict laws? Or torturing and killing anyone who dares to oppose them?

Hamas steals resources from their own people to build their war machine and purposely target Israeli CITIZENS. But let’s not speak out against them. LOL. Your selective outrage is hilarious. Tens of thousands of Arabs were tortured and beheaded by ISIS in Libya, Syria, and Iraq. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of Arabs have been killed by Arab dictators in Syria and Libya. Saudi Arabia and other Arab nations have starved and killed about 400,000 people in Yemen. Arab terrorists and Arab dictators (there’s not a SINGLE Arab democracy on the planet by the way) have killed literally millions of Arabs in recent history. But there was not a single peep from any of you people for those situations.

It’s very telling that you save your outrage and call for a cease fire when Israel is involved. But when Arab terrorists and dictators are killing other Arabs and forcing them to live in the most oppressive conditions, you seem to be fine with that. If you want to free Palestine, you should free Palestine of Hamas and put a leadership structure in place that values the life of the Palestinian people more than their current leaders do.

    • Human says:

…but Hamas is the leadership structure that was put in place by the USA and Israel.
Not wanting to see children killed is not either anti Israel or pro Hamas it’s just a normal human response.
All around the world there are many supporters of Israel , many who are Jewish, who are demonstrating for the same thing, a ceasefire.

      • Joe Bloggs says:

“Hamas is the leadership structure that was put in place by the USA and Israel.”

No, a Palestinian Authority was agreed to govern Palestine.

Hamas is both a political party that has been voted into power by the Palestinians and a para-military oganisation.

Both the United States and Israel (as well as the United Kingdom and most western countries) have identified Hamas as a terrorist organisation. To say that “Hamas is the leadership structure that was put in place by the USA and Israel” is an obvious misrepresentation of the truth.

      • question says:

Hamas was voted in by an election in Gaza. These are the people they wanted in power. Hamas was definitely not put there by the US and Israel. Far from it.

    • Silverback Gorilla says:

Palestine has a right to defend itself from Israeli occupation and aggression.

      • Joe Bloggs says:

Agreed. And Israel has a right to respond to the invasion of Israel by the Palestinians that killed 1,400 people and resulted in the kidnapping of another 240 or so.

    • Micro says:

Extreme oppression breeds extremist action. Educate yourself on the history of the region and maybe you’ll understand.

      • Joe Bloggs says:

“Educate yourself on the history of the region”

How far back? Back to the 1970s? Back to the 1960s? Back to the middle ages? Or back to the rise of Christianity?

  2. Observer says:

I love you all but you are quite frankly completely out of touch with reality.

  3. Question says:

Not one of them is carrying a sign telling Hamas to free the hostages.

  4. Well done Bermuda says:

Congrats on taking a stand and showing up in-spite-of the bad weather.

    • LOL - the real one says:

….and bravo for, once again, showing the world your true, bigoted colours.

  5. Joe Bloggs says:

“We are asking and we’re begging the world to do something and just put some sort of pressure to put an end to this deadly war that just will not lead anywhere,”

That would be the deadly war that Hamas, as the government of Gaza, started and is now losing!

  6. Oh Well says:

More folks came out for this than the BELCO protest. Go figure. Anyway FREE PALESTINE.
