Police Renew Appeal To Locate 16-Year-Old

Ajahni Lema-Bascome Missing Bermuda November 2023 Today [Nov 30] marks three weeks since 16-year-old Ajahni Lema-Bascome was first reported missing, and the police said “at this stage, we believe that Ajahni is being assisted by complicit adults” adding that “it is important to note that we do not have any evidence of harm inflicted upon him.”

A police spokesperson said, “Today marks three weeks since Ajahni Lema-Bascome was first reported missing and efforts continue to locate him.

“The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] has received limited public assistance to date regarding the 16-year-old’s possible whereabouts.

“However, the BPS has been informed by individuals closely associated with Ajahni that he is safe and well. But none of those individuals seem willing, or able, to reveal where he might be.”

Darrin Simons, Commissioner of Police stated: “At this stage, we believe that Ajahni is being assisted by complicit adults. However, it is important to note that we do not have any evidence of harm inflicted upon him.”

“We have a dedicated vulnerable persons team in place who are actively involved in the search efforts. This team is composed of highly trained professionals who specialise in handling cases involving missing individuals.”

“Rest assured, we are doing everything within our power to locate Ajahni and ensure his safety. We are committed to utilising all available resources and expertise to bring this situation to a positive resolution.”

The police spokesperson said, “As a reminder, at 16 years of age, Ajahni is still considered a juvenile and to be clear, harbouring a juvenile is an offence punishable under the law.

“A person guilty of this offence is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months.

“We have been informed that Ajahni is now wearing his hair out and it is no longer in plaits. His attire would have also changed.

“Ajahni is described as being 5’ 8” in height, approximately 125lbs, light complexioned, slim built, with dark hair.

“Once again, whomever knows where Ajahni is or who may be assisting him in avoiding police, you are advised to immediately get in contact with us by calling 295-0011.

“Additionally, we are in dialogue with the Department of Child and Family Services to ensure that all necessary steps are being taken to protect Ajahni’s well-being.
