Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with X-Roads, Devonshire Cougars, Devonshire Colts, and Robin Hood all earning wins, while one other match ended in a draw.
Premier Division
X-Roads 5 – Dandy Town Hornets 2
X-Roads picked up their first win of the season with a 5 – 2 victory over the Dandy Town Hornets at Lord’s in St. David’s.
Donovan Thompson gave X-Roads the lead in the third minute, but Alan Martin brought the Dandy Town Hornets level ten minutes later. In the 26th minute, Thompson put X-Roads back in front, making it 2 – 1, a lead they took to the break.
In the 68th minute, X-Roads went ahead 3 – 1 when Amir Wilson found the back of the net. Thompson completed his hat trick with a goal in the 84th minute to extend the X-Roads lead to 4 – 1. Amar Lewis pulled the Dandy Town Hornets within two in the 88th minute, but one minute later Thompson added his fourth goal of the game to make the final score 5 – 2.
St. George’s Colts 1 – Devonshire Cougars 3
At the Wellington Oval, the Devonshire Cougars defeated the St. George’s Colts 3 – 1.
Lejuan Simmons gave the Devonshire Cougars the lead in the 45th minute; they took that 1 – 0 lead to the break.
The St. George’s Colts leveled the match in the 65th minute when Jonte Smith scored, but in the 75th minute Domico Coddington put the Devonshire Cougars back in front. In the 88th minute, Jayori Fox made it 3 – 1 to the Devonshire Cougars.
North Village Rams 1 – Young Men Social Club 1
The North Village Rams remain undefeated, but their perfect record was halted following a 1 – 1 draw with Young Men Social Club at Bernard’s Park.
On the stroke of halftime, Young Men Social Club took the lead when Ryan Parris found the back of the net.
The league leading North Village Rams leveled the match at 1 – 1 in the 67th minute when Adio DeShields scored. Neither team found the back of the net again as they shared the points.
First Division
Wolves 0 – Devonshire Colts 2
At Bernard’s Park, league leaders Devonshire Colts remained undefeated with this 2 – 0 win over Wolves.
On the stroke of half-time, Sage’ Blair-Paynter gave Devonshire Colts the lead.
Chemarl Henry doubled the lead for the Devonshire Colts in the 88th minute.
St. David’s 2 – Robin Hood 6
At Lord’s in St. David’s, visitors Robin Hood defeated St. David’s 6 – 2.
Robin Hood got two goals from Jahron Dickinson and single strikes from Clay Darrell, Jesse Seymour, Marcia Simons, and Jordon Darrell, while St. David’s got two goals from Christen Lugo Elibox.
