Evening Showcase: “La Pieta” – Transforming Heartache into Healing

“As part of CURB’s Truth & Reconciliation Community Conversations initiative, the evening session will feature a compelling exploration through art and testimony, centered around the poignant masterpiece, “La Pieta,” by Richard Sutton.

“Richard Sutton’s “La Pieta” serves as a visceral commentary on violence and its profound impact on Bermuda’s community. This artwork acts as a catalyst, sparking conversations on grief, loss, and identity, resonating deeply amidst the ongoing tragic losses to violence on the island.

Bringing Art to Life: A Performance and Testimonies

“Experience the emotive resonance of “La Pieta” as it comes to life through a captivating re-enactment. Following this, hear firsthand testimonies from courageous mothers associated with Mother’s on a Mission [MOM Bermuda], sharing their lived experiences of losing sons to gang violence. These stories add a personal dimension to the broader conversation on healing.

Transforming Collective Heartache into Healing: A Culminating Segment

“The evening will conclude with a thought-provoking segment, exploring avenues to collectively transform our shared heartache into healing. Join us as we reflect on actionable steps and strategies to foster healing and positive change in our community.

“This transformative evening promises to be a powerful testament to the resilience and strength of our community. Join CURB on February 6th as we embark on a journey from heartache to healing.

Ah, the irony! Where was Curb when a white football referee was being racially abused throughout the 90 minutes of a game? Where was Curb when xenophobic graffiti was plastered all over a supermarket’s walls on North Shore targeting guest workers from the Philippines ? The answer is nowhere: a more blinkered, bigoted , one eyed group you will never find.

Curb does nothing but perpetuate racism in Bermuda.

They are silent on most cases of discrimination, such as the overwhelmingly anti LGBTQ attitude prevalent in Bermuda.
They turn a blind eye to all (but one selected) forms of racism in Bermuda.
