Boxer Andre Lambe hosted the inaugural Showtime Classic golf tournament at the Port Royal Golf Course yesterday [January 20] to help fund his preparations and travel costs for upcoming overseas fights.

Lambe, who has won all ten of his professional bouts, is earmarked to fight overseas in March.

The 28-year-old, who goes by the moniker “Showtime” told Bernews: “It was a pretty good turnout today. It seems like good vibes, and everyone has good energy.

“I’m happy everyone is here to support the cause. I plan to take Bermuda to the next level in boxing, which is getting us to the world stage.

“We hope to turn this into an annual event where we can support other [Bermudian] athletes. We hope to support anyone looking to put Bermuda on the map.

“This year we’re going to be supporting my career and helping me try to get a world title [junior version].”

The golf tournament featured a captain’s choice format and four to a team.
