Bermuda Defeat Panama, Finish 7th In ITF
Bermuda’s Junior Davis Cup team finished in seventh place after defeating Panama 2 – 0 in ITF Junior Davis Cup action in the Dominican Republic.
Tobiah Goodchild gave Bermuda a 1 – 0 lead when he defeated Juan Alfredo Fondevila in Singles 4-1, 4-0, Zachary McGuire would then end the context winning the second game 4-2, 5-3 over Andre Martiz.
Earlier in the day, Bermuda went down 2 – 1 to Costa Rica in the fifth-place play-off match.
Costa Rica took the lead in the opening Singles match as Alberto Mora defeated Tristan Pettit in straight sets 4-1, 4-1, but McGuire pulled Bermuda level at 1 – 1 when he defeated Julian Garnier in a three-set battle, 4-1, 1-4, 10-2.
It would come down to the Doubles to break the tie, with Garnier, and Mora defeating Goodchild, and McGuire 4-1, 4-1.
