THE BERMUDA KITE
I am some what disapointed resulting from lack of participstion in the Bermuda National kite flying day yesterday.
This is where we all can get together to enjoy a tradition which has lasted for more than my and many lifetimes.
Unfortunately the weather was not so kind and put a damper on the celebration, this unfortunately has happened in the past, I am sure that I am not the only one disapointed as many of us from 6 to 60 including our children look froward for months to building and flying our kites.
A possible solution is to weather proof our kites.
There’s a down side to flying our kites ,with wet string in unpredictable weather *** LIGHTNING***.
Was this Good Friday’s National a public holiday also lost traditional opportunity for our children to have some fun i am not forgeting the pride of ownership of building a fancy Bermuda kite, we have our experts.
A kite builder’s competition would be a viable proposition.
Who has the longest flight time with out sleeping?
May I ask why people to fly their kites so high up , we can’t see them 1000 ft + up?
One size up on kite string would solve breakaway problem .
Got to keep BELCo happy .
I was in college in Manchester England many years ago , I built a Standard Bermuda Kite including hummers, i took it to the local football field at the end of my street on Good Friday , I had many admirers.
By the way kites do not have to screamer hummers because a few “spoil sports” don’t like em.
That also could be another reason for yesterday’s lack of enthusiasm and participation.
