Carey Olsen Hosts Panel For Women’s Day
Carey Olsen Bermuda celebrated International Women’s Day with a panel discussion featuring prominent female leaders in Bermuda.
A spokesperson said, “Carey Olsen Bermuda has marked this year’s International Women’s Day with an insightful panel discussion focusing on the professional and personal experiences of four women leading the way in Bermuda.
“The panel was moderated by Carey Olsen senior associate Laura Kearns and featured SVP senior legal counsel at Butterfield Bank, Kim Simmons; the Honourable Mrs Justice Shade Subair Williams; group head of trust services at Lombard Odier Group, Charmaine Tucker; and Carey Olsen senior counsel Claire van Overdijk KC.
“Panellists discussed topics such as what the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ means to them, the challenges they have faced as women in the workplace, how to navigate ‘imposter syndrome’, creating work-life balance and their advice to the younger generation seeking to progress in their careers.
“100 local women attended the event which was held at The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and concluded with networking and afternoon tea.”
Laura Kearns said, “I feel very privileged to have moderated such an open and honest discussion between four exceptional, accomplished women. Through their candour [and some humour!], the panellists shared experiences which really resonated with our guests. We look forward to continuing to ‘Inspire Inclusion’ in Bermuda.”
Claire van Overdijk KC said, “It was truly an honour to share this panel with our distinguished guests who each shared authentic and candid insight into their individual experiences surrounding this year’s ‘Inspire Inclusion’ theme. In joining together with local women at various stages in their respective professions we found lots to celebrate and to inspire us to continue the discussion by way of a collaborative and supportive network to further inclusion, diversity and equality for women in Bermuda.”
