St. George’s Colts Head To FA Challenge Final
The St. George’s Colts will face off against the North Village Rams in the FA Challenge Cup final following their 5 – 3 victory over Hamilton Parish at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Hamilton Parish’s starting line up included Nigel Burgess, Mauriq Hill, Leroy Lewis, Samario Valasse-Paul [Armand Foy 80th], Jarye Bean, Macquille Walker, Justin Bell, Aaron Nelson, Quinn Outerbridge, Kion Knights, Matteo Turner – Substitutes: – Rory McKittrick, Kyle Wade, Samuel McKittrick, Phillip Burgess, Chiquon Smith, Jahquille Stowe – St. George’s Colts Starting Line-Up: – Jahquil Hill, Kashe Hall, Kurtis Minors [Jonte Smith 80th], Phillip Anderson, Tyrell Burgess, Manoj Paynter [Ernest Signor [100th], Ari Cannonier [Drewonde Bascome 67th], Jibri Salaam, Paul Simons [Oyinde Bascome 115th], and Amon Joaquin Simons, with substitutes Ryan King, DeQuan Lodge, and Gregory Wade.
The St. George’s Colts went ahead in the sixth minute when Tyrell Burgess scored, but Justin Bell equalized for Hamilton Parish in the 38th minute. One minute later it was 2 – 1 to the St. George’s Colts when Jibri Salaam scored, and they took that lead to the break.
In the 63rd minute, Macquille Walker drew Hamilton Parish level for a second time in the game. For a third time in the match, the St. George’s Colts took the lead when Kashe Hall scored, and again for the third time in the match Hamilton Parish found an equalizer in the 87th minute when Mauriq Hill scored a header, sending the match into extra time.
After a scoreless first half in extra time, the St. George’s Colts were awarded a penalty in the 117th minute that saw Jonte Smith score, and then two minutes later Blaiz Hall found the back of the net to earn the St. George’s Colts the victory.
