Horsfield & Olander Win Mountain Bike Race

Robin Horsfield claimed his fifth successive Winners Edge Mountain Bike Cross Country National Championships in Southlands, Warwick.

Horsfield, a student at the University of Ontario, Canada, started his season in style by winning the open men’s race in 58min 46sec.

Che’Quen Richardson was runner-up in 1:12:34 and Alex Pilgrim came third in 1:13:58.

Panzy Olander continued her fine form by winning the open women’s race in 49:15, with Caitlin Conyers placing second in 59:07 and Wendy-Ann Thomas rounding out the podium in 1:00:33.

In the men’s masters, Kavin Smith claimed victory in 59:05. James Holloway was runner-up in 1:04:20 and Han Hirschi placed third in 1:06:27.

Jackson Langley, one of the island’s up-and-coming riders, won the junior men’s race in 46:28, with Ollie Hayward coming second in 51:33 and Gordon Smith placing third in 1:00:31.

Charlotte Millington secured the junior women’s title in 40:35, with Skye Ferguson finishing runner-up in 42:20 and Kelice Wade rounding out the podium in 45:44.

In the junior male race, Dylan Eiselt claimed victory in 12:19, with Jeans Drea coming second in 13:15 and Ray Richardson taking third in 15:07.

Hannes Swart claimed top honours in the junior male 7-12 contest in 12:38, with Trystan Thompson finishing runner-up in 13:28 and Austen Carr placing third in 14:20.

Ava Swart won the junior female 7-12 race in 17:47.
